Hordagruppen phases out competitor printers – continues to invest in Linx 8940 Spectrum

At Horda Group AB Production is going at a high pace. Rubber hoses and components for the automotive industry are manufactured here, among other things, where the marking must function as stably as the rest of the production. And when the demands on data matrix codes and traceability began to increase, it became clear that the old printers were no longer enough.

Today, Hordagruppen has two Linx 8940 Spectrums installed from Logimark. One of the printers runs 24/7 in three shifts, while the other is used in daytime production. At the same time, the company is phasing out several older printers from another supplier.

“We have four from another company, but the possibilities with the Linx printers are what made us decide to switch.”

From old contacts to new collaboration

The relationship between the Horda Group and Logimark goes back a long way. Göran Magnisson had contact with Logimark many years ago and particularly remembers the collaboration with Logimark's founder Carl-Axel Roth. When the need for marking with data matrix codes arose, the contact took off again.

“The old printers couldn’t do that. Then I talked to Elin and then we bought a printer… and then we bought another one.”

For the Horda Group, it wasn't just about buying a new printer – it was about finding a solution that works in real life.

Labeling that must survive tough production

The products are marked even before the rubber is vulcanized. After marking, the hoses go into large autoclaves where they are exposed to approximately 165 degrees of heat under pressure for approximately 25 minutes.

Despite this, the marking must remain in place and be fully legible afterwards.

“Then it comes out and then the text will remain.”

It took some time to find the right ink for the application, but today the solution works stably in production. And the speed? It is not a problem for the printers.

A printer that just needs to run – all the time

When a production line runs 24/7, there is no room for downtime. Therefore, operational reliability is one of the most important factors for the Horda Group.

“The machine must not fail, because if it fails, the equipment and the entire line will stop… Since we installed it, we haven’t done anything.”

Since installation, the printers have been running smoothly. Another big advantage is that the team can handle service and maintenance themselves without having to book technicians for every small task.

“Yours is better today because we can change the core ourselves.”

Easy to use for operators

At Hordagruppen, several operators use the printers daily, which makes user-friendliness extra important. And there the difference is clearly noticeable compared to older systems.

“The menu is much easier than on the old ones. It's easier to change programs and easier to set up.”

Today, the printers are used for article numbers, batch marking, material information and various types of codes for traceability. And Göran believes that the development will only continue.

“Many customers are now asking for barcodes and DataMatrix. And we believe this will become even more common in the future.”

Something that comes up several times during the conversation is the importance of support and service. For Göran, good collaboration is not just about the machine itself – but about the people behind it.

“You don't buy the printer from the seller, it's how you are treated when you want service.”

At Logimark, Horde group have had close contact with both salespeople and technicians over the years, something that has been an important part of the long-term collaboration.
