With laser technology as the engine – this is how Ligna Woodwork & Design AB develops its business

For Ligna Woodwork & Design AB The investment in laser technology has become the starting point for building a flexible and scalable business. The journey began with a simple question: What if we could work on something we really enjoy?
Today, that idea has developed into a growing business where creativity and technology go hand in hand – with laser technology as the central driving force.
An idea that became the starting point
After several years together, house purchases and renovation projects, a shared entrepreneurial spirit emerged. The defining moment came during a trip, where a pair of laser-cut wooden earrings piqued their curiosity.
When one of the earrings went missing, the idea was born: to create their own products. What started as a creative thought quickly developed into a business opportunity – and a desire to build something of their own.

The right partner and the right technology
The search for the right machine led to Logimark. After dialogue, advice and a longer demonstration at a trade fair, the choice became clear.
“We got a very good impression… and a demo where we really got the opportunity to understand the whole thing.”
The investment landed in a Trotec Laser Q400, financed via leasing – a solution that made it possible to take the step without taking too much financial risk. Unlike many other investments, Ligna did not start from a ready-made need – but from what the technology could actually enable.
“We didn’t need the machine from the beginning – we’re trying to create a business based on the machine’s capabilities.”
The result is a flexible business model with multiple revenue streams:
- Jewelry in wood, acrylic and leather
- Gift items and interior design details
- Engraved products such as cutting boards and coasters
- Signs and special orders
- Contract work and engraving for companies

The breadth has been a strength in the start-up phase – and a way to quickly learn the market. The technical flexibility makes it possible to quickly test new business ideas and adapt the offering to market demand.
First steps into the market
The first launch took place through a local Christmas market, where the focus was on gift items. It was an important test – both for products and customer response. At the same time, Ligna has actively worked towards corporate customers. Through collaborations and targeted initiatives, they have already completed assignments for other companies, and more business is on the way.
“We would like to work business to business… for example hotels and restaurants.”
The business is currently run in parallel with other work, with production located in the basement of the home. This provides a low threshold for continuing to develop the company.

“We see it as an advantage – we can go down and work whenever we have time, even just for a few hours.”
At the same time, there is a clear ambition to grow further – both in scope and structure.
Security in cooperation
As with all technological ventures, there have been challenges along the way. Here, Ligna particularly highlights the importance of close support.
“Anything can happen, but it has worked out incredibly well every time. That's where you really see the value of close contact.”
The collaboration with Logimark has been an important part of creating security in the investment and enabling continued development.
Going forward, Ligna Woodwork & Design AB will focus on:
- Clarify your offering and find the right focus
- Further develop your website and e-commerce
- Increase visibility towards B2B customers
- In the long term, develop the business into a full-time business
“The vision is that we will be able to work more on this full-time.”
Ligna Woodwork & Design AB is in the middle of an exciting construction phase – where each new project helps shape the future. With a combination of craftsmanship, technology and curiosity, they have created a stable foundation to grow from. And perhaps most importantly – they have taken the step from idea to action.
