Effective marking drives SeaSam Foods forward

SeaSam Food AB, which produces seafood products under the Ullmo brand, has long been a significant player in the food industry in Scandinavia. The company, which sells its products to large grocery chains such as Coop, ICA and Costco, has an extensive production of crayfish, lobster and roe. To meet growing demand and streamline its processes, SeaSam has implemented new marking solutions in collaboration with Logimark.
From manual to automated marking
Previously, SeaSam handled the marking of its products manually, which meant employees hand-applied labels and manually stamped date stamps on the packaging. This was a time-consuming process that needed to be modernized to increase productivity and reduce the risk of errors.
Magnus Bergström, Site Manager in SeaSam's production, took the initiative to find a new solution and found Logimark through an online search. The company was impressed by Logimark's wide range of marking machines and our expertise in the industry. Together with our sales representative Göran Björkman and our service department, we were able to identify a solution that suited their needs with SeaSam.

A combined solution for optimal production
To meet the high demands on marking, SeaSam has chosen to implement two different machines: inkjet printer 8900 and the WLM wipe-on labelling machine. These machines complement each other by handling different marking needs. The inkjet printer is used to print important information such as batch number, lot number, origin and manufacturing date directly on the packages, while the labelling machine applies labels with dates to the products.
The introduction of these machines has brought several benefits to SeaSam. Production has become more efficient and flexible, as it is now easier to re-adjust the machines when changing labels or updating information. In addition, Logimark's service has been supportive in adjusting the layout of the label printer, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system.
Challenges with condensation
One of the biggest challenges in SeaSam's production is condensation on the packaging, especially when it is often wet or frozen. To ensure that the marking remains of high quality despite these conditions, SeaSam uses a special ink to their inkjet printer 8900, which adheres particularly well even to damp surfaces. This adaptation has been crucial in maintaining a high standard in marking and ensuring that the information on the products remains clear and legible.

Future vision and expansion
SeaSam Foods is optimistic about the future and plans to continue expanding its operations. Production is constantly increasing and the range is broadening with new products and packaging solutions. Despite economic challenges such as inflation, the company has managed to maintain stable growth, which is a strong sign of a prosperous and successful company.
Through the collaboration with Logimark, SeaSam has been able to streamline its production and ensure that their products are correctly labeled, which contributes to smoother handling and higher customer satisfaction. With a continued focus on innovation and development, SeaSam looks forward to a future of continued growth and success.
