    Background

Stece Fjädrar was founded in 1946 in Stockholm by Bröderna Brandfors and Sten-Erik Cederberg under the name Bröderna Brandfors Spiralfjäderfabrik AB. In 1951, the company was moved to Mönsterås and is still located there today. In 1971 the name was changed to Stece AB and in 2008 a wholly owned company was formed and is part of the Lesjöfors Group, which is present in Scandinavia, Europe, Asia and North America. Together with the other 41 manufacturing factories in the Lesjöfors Group, they can today offer the market's widest range of springs and flat strip components. Today, Stece Fjädrar has changed its name to Lesjöfors Industrifjädrar Mönsterås AB, which includes 3 units.

Lesjöfors Industrifjädrar supplies products to companies in a wide range of industries, including agriculture, medical technology and construction and infrastructure. In particular, the automotive industry is one of their largest segments where Volvo and Scania are their largest customers and they have been their suppliers for a long time.

We went up to Lesjöfors Industrifjädrar in Mönsterås where we met Henrik Berg, technical salesman, who told us about and enthusiastically showed their factory and their production of compression springs and flat strip components.

"We produce mostly compression springs and have done so for all years, what has been added are wave springs that we are unique in and we are now investing heavily in automation." says Henrik. They mainly place high-volume items for automatic grinding, which contributes to fewer employees.

    New need

The need to permanently mark products arose when Volvo's aftermarket realised the importance of protecting their products against copying. This led Lesjöfors Industrifjädrar to start researching the market for a suitable laser machine.

    Solution and customer judgement

Lesjöfors found Logimark and was introduced to Trotec Speedmarker 700 fiber laser. The machine responded directly to the needs of the business and after a few weeks the machine was delivered to Mönsterås. The installation went smoothly and the staff received a short training on the functions of the machine and the software.

According to Henrik, there were no oddities "It was easy to get started and production could begin immediately."

The SpeedMarker 700 is part of their production line of Volvo's "Y-spring" product for brand and part number labelling. We were impressed to see how efficient the process was.

    Future plans

Their vision for the future includes continued growth and collaboration on more large projects. They are not averse to taking on more labelling assignments given the increasing demand they are receiving. Henrik expresses his enthusiasm for taking on further marking projects, pointing out that permanent labelling has proven to work well and has been a relatively simple process. He emphasises the importance of growing together with his customers.
