Buckets & Barrels

In the animal feed and agricultural industries, a variety of different types of buckets and barrels are used, depending on the type of product to be packaged, stored or transported. The most common are various plastic-based packaging, such as robust plastic buckets with lids for mineral feed, supplements or concentrates. These buckets are available in several sizes and are often made of food-grade plastic that can withstand both moisture and handling in harsh environments.

Different techniques for Buckets & Barrels

Inkjet printing

CIJ is an ideal marking technology for marking plastic products such as buckets, cans, barrels and containersThe technology is particularly well suited when production takes place at a high pace and the marking must be done directly on the finished plastic surface – without the product stopping or being handled manually.

The marking is done directly on round, conical or uneven surfaces, making it excellent for plastic packaging of all sizes and shapes. It also works equally well on filled and empty containers.

Typical label content such as batch numbers, manufacturing dates, best-before dates, article numbers and logos are printed with high contrast and good readability – even on difficult materials such as PE and PP.

For larger volumes, plastic drums of varying sizes are often used, where the contents can range from grains and premixes to liquid feed solutions. These drums are often stackable and designed to work in both manual and automated flows. In some cases, metal drums are also used, especially when handling liquids or chemical additives.

There are also cardboard-based buckets with plastic inserts, mainly for powders or special feeds where the packaging is disposable. For really large volumes, IBC containers or larger plastic tubs are sometimes used, especially by farmers or feed producers who handle bulk products.

What all of these packages have in common is that they need to be clearly labeled – whether on the lid, side or bottom. The labelling must be durable, legible and adapted to the product’s life cycle and handling environment. This places demands on both the choice of labelling technology and how the information is placed to facilitate traceability, storage and distribution.

Do you want to ensure that your buckets or barrels are labeled correctly? We are happy to help you find a solution that works in practice.

Questions & Answers (FAQ)

It depends on what you want to mark, how the surface looks and how your production works. Many of our customers use inkjet printers (CIJ) for direct marking on plastic, but labelling can also be right – especially if the marking is to be visible from a distance. We are happy to help you find what suits your products.
Yes, absolutely – but it’s important to use the right kind of ink. We have quick-drying, UV-resistant and moisture-resistant options that are suitable for plastic surfaces. The important thing is that the marking lasts throughout the product’s life cycle.
Yes, that's fine. The label can be placed where it's most visible – on the side, on the lid or even on the bottom if needed. We'll make sure the label fits right into your flow, no matter where you want it.
This is a common challenge in the agricultural and feed industry. We have technologies that can handle this, such as contactless marking with CIJ. We can also help with adjustments to the production line to get the best possible results.
Yes, our machines are built for industrial environments and are available in different protection classes (IP). If you have a tough environment, we have solutions that can withstand it – we adapt the system to your conditions.
That’s where we come in. We always start by understanding your business and your products. Then we do tests and show you what works best – preferably directly in your production environment. Our goal is for the labelling to work seamlessly and without disrupting the flow.
Yes, men! Regardless of whether you choose ink marking or labelling, we can configure the equipment so that all information is printed at the same time – automatically and without hassle.
Of course! We are with you every step of the way – from initial advice to installation, training and ongoing support. And if something goes wrong, our service organization is on site quickly.
