Inkjet printing

Inkjet marking is the most widely used technology for direct marking on cables and hoses. An inkjet printer can apply text, logos, batch numbers and length markings while the product is in motion.

Advantages:

  • Contactless marking – perfect for moving and flexible products.
  • High speed – can handle up to 9,10 m/s with Logimark's CIJ printer.
  • Customizable ink types for different plastic and rubber materials.
  • Possibility to mark length measurement or serial number along the entire product.

UV Laser - Marking on cables

Laser marking

Laser marking is used when the marking needs to be permanent and extremely durable. The laser burns the surface of the cable or hose, creating a permanent marking that cannot be worn away.

Advantages:

  • Permanent marking that withstands heat, chemicals and friction.
  • High precision even on small diameters.
  • No consumption of ink or labels.

For plastic cables, CO₂ lasers are recommended, which provide high contrast through slight surface change, while fiber lasers are better suited for darker or rubber-based materials.

Read more about Cables & Industrial Hoses

The marking of cables and industrial hoses is an important part of both traceability, safety and quality control – especially since they are often part of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems where correct identification is crucial.

Cables and hoses are manufactured from flexible and sometimes heat-resistant materials such as rubber, PVC, silicone, polyurethane (PU) or fluoropolymers. These materials can be smooth, pliable or heat-treated, which places high demands on the adhesion, contrast and durability of the marking.

Challenges when marking cables & industrial hoses:

  • Rounded and moving surfaces make the placement of the marking more difficult.
  • Glossy or oily surfaces can affect ink adhesion.
  • High production speeds require stable printers with precise synchronization.
  • Requirements for durability in environments with UV, heat or chemicals.

For most applications, we recommend inkjet marking (CIJ) due to its flexibility, high speed and ability to mark round surfaces without contact. For permanent marking and extreme environments, we recommend laser marking, especially for rubber and silicone-based hoses.

With Logimark's solutions, you get clear, durable and traceable markings that meet the requirements of today's modern cable and hose production.

Questions & Answers (FAQ)

For most applications, we recommend inkjet marking (CIJ). It provides clear and fast marking on round, flexible surfaces. For permanent marking or high demands on durability, laser marking is the best option.
Yes. Our CIJ printers are designed to mark in real time on cables moving at high speeds – up to 9,10 m/s. The marking is non-contact, making the technology ideal for continuous flow production lines.
For plastic cables, CO₂ lasers are most often used, which provide clear contrast without damaging the surface. For rubber cables or dark materials, fiber lasers are recommended, which provide a more defined and durable result.
We offer special inks with high adhesion for difficult surfaces such as PVC, PU or rubber. The ink is quick-drying and resistant to UV light, heat and friction. If necessary, the surface can be pre-treated for even better results.
Yes, both inkjet and laser marking can print batch numbers, serial numbers and barcodes directly onto the cable. For barcodes, a laser is usually used to ensure high readability even on small diameters.
