Ink labelling on plastic component

    Background

Nordic Plastic Group is the Nordic region's largest supplier of components and finished products in plastic. They are located in Trelleborg but also have a producing unit in Helsingborg. Their range consists of plates, pipes, rods, profiles, foils and other types of accessories. Their customers are everything from large global to small and medium-sized companies that operate in a variety of industries-including the vehicle, steel, food industry and medical technology. They largely deliver in the Nordic countries, but exports are also made to other European countries as well as to China and the United States.

    The challenge

One August day, Logimark meets four employees at Nordic Plastic Group-production manager Daniel Rubin, supervisor Mattias Nilsson and Victor Persson and Carl-Johan Nilsson who work in their hand workshop. About a year ago, just when Nordic Plastic needed to replace their marking machine, they caught the eye of Logimark. Their then machine did not live up to their requirements and had both quality deficiencies and the need for a lot of service. Daniel Rubin, Production Manager, explains:

    - In conjunction with the lack of quality of the previous marking machine, our customers came to place higher demands on the labelling. That we would not only notice with text but also notice their logo and the like. Therefore, there was a need to have a more modern marking machine.

    Logimark's solution

The LinX 8900 is a flexible inkjet printer that can write up to five rows, logos, barcodes and the like. It is easy to use and clean and has minimal maintenance needs. The advantage is that the customer can perform service with a service module and therefore does not need to wait for a service technician. The machine is also equipped with a 10 ”touch screen in color, which is easy to navigate in. In Nordic Plastic's case, the operator first sets what is to be labeled on the screen, such as logo and text. Then, with the help of a hand transporter where the ink jet head is connected, the plastic product is laid and then the hand transporter is carried aside and the plastic is inkly labeled with the programmed text and logo. The ink dries on for a second, which simplifies production.

    Results

Victor Persson, works in the hand workshop and uses the machine, says:
    - We would notice logos that would be as small as possible, but with the former inkjet writer there was only a small black spot. With the LinX 8900, however, it works without any problems.

    Customer's judgment

Everyone is agreed that their labelling needs have met, but that it has not only been about buying a marking machine. It was also important that the company they would buy from not only sold a machine but also cared for their customer relationships. With Logimark as a labelling machine supplier, Nordic Plastic feels that it worked great, both with the choice of inkjet printers but also the availability with service and spare parts.

Mattias Nilsson, supervisor, and Carl-Johan Nilsson, work in the hand workshop, says:
-The best thing about this machine is that it is very easy to use. Anyone can go in and use it. Our previous machine was impossible, in the end we were only three to four pieces that could use it. With the LinX 8900 everything works perfectly and it has facilitated our production.
